John Nash in Athens – Honoris Causa and speech at the Old Parliament

Back in early 2000, I had the privilege to belong in a small group of people that took the initiative to contact John F. Nash Jr., and invite him to Greece.

This initiative was greatly supported by Demetrios Christodoulou, Professor in Princeton University at the time, and the National and Kadopistrian University of Athens as well as the Mayor of Velo Korinthias, Haris Vytiniotis.

John Nash was conferred an Honorary Doctorate (honoris causa) by the Department of Mathematics of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens during his stay.

The first photo below is right before the start of the ceremony.

The speech of John Nash, took place on Thursday, June the 8th, at the Old Parliament with the title “Ideal Money”.
