Welcome to my personal webpage!

Here are a few words about me. I got my first degree at Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Economics in 1996. I later attended the Graduate Program of Iowa State University, USA, between 1997-1999 where I was honored to be granted a full scholarship. While at ISU, I also took several courses in the Statistics Department where I got my minor. Returning to Greece, I joined the Doctoral Program of the Department of International and European Economic Studies at Athens University of Economics and Business from where I was granted my PhD in 2004. I would like to take this opportunity and point here that I feel very honored that my PhD committee was comprised by exceptional scholars, among them late John Dunning, Emeritus Professor and guru in FDI issues and Peter Buckley, an exceptional International Business Scholar.

In September 2004 I was employed at the University of Peloponnese, Department of Economics as a Visiting Lecturer. In 2006 I was elected as a regular Lecturer and I officially joined the Department in September 2007. In January 2013 I was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the University of Piraeus, Department of Economics.

My specialization area lies with Foreign Direct Investment and Multinational Corporations. I am interested both in the macroeconomic aspects related to FDI, such as the impact of FDI on growth as well as the microeconomic angle of MNCs, i.e. their operations, subsidiaries, R&D etc. However my interests are not exhausted there. I am also interested in human capital, intellectual property rights, private investments, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

I have taught a number of classes, both undergraduate and graduate. I have also participated in a series of International Conferences around the world where I had the opportunity to meet some very interesting and worth-noticing academics.

Among the things I am proud of, my co-editing book “A Festschrift in honor of John Nash: Game Theory” holds a prominent position. This has been the outcome of an initiative of a small group of people where I belonged to contact John Nash when I had the great privilege to meet him and his wife Alicia in person during their visit in Athens in 2000. The book contains original papers of well known scholars in game theory as well as an original interview by John Nash and it was the first book on game theory in Greek in 2002. You may find more information on Nash’s visit and the book in the category “Exceptional”.

Currently, I am also a Special Adviser of Observatory Plus, Crisis Oservatory, ELIAMEP (Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy)
